Tax preparation FAQs
What do I need to bring to get my taxes prepared?
Last year's return, your W-2s and 1099s, mortgage and investment statements, and records of any deductible expenses. If you're self-employed or run a business, add your income and expense totals or bookkeeping export. We'll tell you exactly what applies to your situation before your appointment.
Do you prepare returns for more than one state?
Yes. We prepare multi-state individual and business returns for clients who moved, work remotely across state lines, or run a business with income in more than one state.
What if I haven't filed a return in a few years?
We can still help. We prepare the missing years using your wage and income transcripts, get you filed and current, and work out a plan for anything owed. See our IRS Tax Resolution page for how that process works.
Is tax planning different from tax preparation?
Yes. Preparation reports what already happened; planning looks ahead, at entity choice, retirement contributions, timing income and expenses, and estimated payments, so there are fewer surprises when the return is actually filed.
